expanding its own bypass routes

Post by admin »

Saudi Arabia is reportedly considering an expansion of its East-West pipeline to the Red Sea, adding bypass capacity to a system that already moves several million barrels a day around the strait entirely.
The UAE is expanding its own bypass routes, with new port capacity planned on its east coast specifically to reduce dependence on Hormuz.
These are not minor logistics tweaks. They are admissions from the region's own producers that the old geography can no longer be trusted.
That is the real lesson here. Hormuz is still a chokepoint, but it has also become an accelerator, pushing Gulf states to diversify routes, Asian importers to rethink supply chains, shippers to reprice risk, and governments everywhere to take energy security seriously again.
A narrow waterway is reshaping strategy on three continents at once.
